Struggling with insomnia a few years ago I accepted an invitation to try hypnotherapy.

Hypnosis is a deep state of relaxation and focused concentration where you are awake and aware but your conscious mind is distracted. In this state, called trance, you can tap into the creative resources of the subconscious mind.

Milton Erickson, M.D., considered the father of modern hypnotherapy, believed that people have all the resources necessary to resolve any problems and issues if they can tap into the wisdom of their subconscious mind.

At my session, Irene Mock, certified hypnotherapist, registered with the Association of Registered Clinical Hypnotherapists, explained, "Hypnotherapy begins with the premise that people are more resourceful than they realize." She assured me that hypnosis is a completely natural state of consciousness we go in and out of every day. Whenever you are absorbed in a good film or book, or drift into a daydream, you are going into a natural hypnotic trance.

During my session, I was guided into a hypnotic trance. In this state, the mind is highly focused. I was able to concentrate on specific imagery and memories without being distracted. Afterwards, I felt deeply relaxed and I started sleeping better.

Current research shows that hypnotherapy is very effective for a wide variety of issues such as weight management, smoking cessation, anxiety, pain control, fears, sports enhancement, childbirth preparation and much more.
